Types of data I collect and why

Additionally, the website may use third-party service providers to service various aspects of the website. Once you have commented on a blog post and the comment has been approved, your name and website (if provided) are visible to the public. After you leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also through IP addresses and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.


If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.


If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment.

I use Google Analytics to track and examine the use of this website, collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns, such as location and pages accessed. I do this to better understand which blog posts do well and where traffic is coming from, so I can constantly strive to improve my content and tailor it to suit my audience. This service, like Google Analytics, tracks website usage and provides information such as referring websites and user actions on the website. Jetpack may capture your IP address but no other personal information is captured. Please see their privacy policy here.
